Description
Camilo José Cela (Literature Nobel Price 1989) Foundation’s headquarters is based in Iria Flavia, opposite the collegiate church of Santa María de Adina. The main focus is the collection of manuscripts. There is also a wealth of correspondence, a library containing editions of his work and studies of his oeuvre, his own personal library, and magazine and newspaper library with references to the author since 1942, in addition to a collection of paintings featuring works by artists such as Picasso and Miró, among other items.
Further we will visit the Museum-House of the most important Galician writers, being the most important figure of the Galician Romantic movement. We will visit her house, which is an excellent example of a typical Galician house with a romantic and flowered garden where we can find the well-known Camellia trees.
Finally, we will drive to visit Pazo do Faramello, which is an early eighteenth century building in baroque civilian Compostelean style, with strong Italian influences giving away the Genoese origin of his founder, the Marquis of Piombino. This Pazo was built in terraces over the river canyon, the Manor House is surrounded by an ancient Atlantic forest, French gardens, natural falls, vineyards, an old stone chapel, swimming pool, fountains and canals.
