Description
After breakfast we will enjoy a guided walking tour of the city starting at Plaza del Obradoiro which is surrounded by spectacular buildings such as Raxoi Palace, the present Town Hall, Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, nowadays a Parador de Turismo, the University Seat, San Xerome Palace and of course the main Façade of the Cathedral. The name of this square is said to come from “Obra de Oro” (work of gold). The guide will explain also the different squares, as the Plaza de Platerías, which is named after the many shops of silver articles (Platerias) which are to be found still today under its arcades. Further the Plaza de la Quintana and Plaza de Azabachería. We will also have time to visit the historical Cathedral, with emphasis on the world famous Portico de la Gloria, (now being restored) sculpted in the 12th century by Master Mateo.
The walk will continue through the typical streets with its stone arches.
Outstanding visit: St. James´ Cathedral.
